Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital helps patients who have experienced heart disease to go back to healthy daily life through a combined program.
In many cases, patients who have experienced heart disease, find it difficult to start and continue exercising on their own because of anxiety about heart attack and recurrence. Cardiac Rehabilitation Center helps patients who have experienced heart disease to go back to their previous daily lives after acute phase treatment, and furthermore, maintain a healthy life physically, emotionally, and socially. This ultimately improves a quality of life by slowing or preventing the progression of heart disease.
Most cardiovascular inpatients may be eligible for cardiac rehabilitation programs, including patients with diseases such as ischemic heart disease, cardiac failure, peripheral vascular disease, and coronary artery bypass surgery, coronary artery angioplasty, heart transplantation, valve replacement, and implantation of an artificial pacemaker. Apart from the exercise program, cardiac rehabilitation is progressed through a combined program including dietary counseling, risk factor management, and psychosocial arbitration in close cooperation with several professional fields such as doctors, coordinators, physical therapists, nutritionists, and pharmacists.
For exercise programs, an individual customized program is progressed after a comprehensive evaluation of the patient's condition. Currently, there is exercise equipment such as Cardiopulmonary exercise stress (CPX) examination equipment and treadmill, ergometer. Medical staff monitor heart rate and electrocardiogram during exercise to ensure safe exercise. We teach stretching methods, muscle strengthening exercises, and pulse measurement methods so that you can exercise safely by yourself even after completing the program. In addition, we help to go back to daily lives smoothly through risk factor management, emergency training and counseling rehabilitation in society.
