Introduction
Ewha Womans University Blood Cancer Hospital has established Korea’s first ever “Blood Cancer Family Care Center” to provide systematic education and support, thereby allowing the family members of blood cancer patients to become active partners in the process of healing and rehabilitation, rather than acting as mere guardians throughout the treatment process. The center’s specialized staff and personalized programs help patients’ families to understand and effectively cope with the diverse situations they may encounter during a patient’s blood cancer treatment. Families also receive comprehensive education about the treatment process, recovery, and rehabilitation so that they are prepared to provide practical assistance in the patient's recovery. In addition, nurses, nutritionists, rehabilitation therapists, and the social work team collaborate closely to deliver tailored support for both patients and their families, and psychological support programs are also available to ease their psychological burden. The center also provides essential information following a blood cancer diagnosis in order to assist patients and their families with making the best decisions throughout the treatment and recovery process. Through these support activities, the center is doing its best to maximize treatment efficacy and ensure that the rehabilitation process goes as smoothly as possible. The Blood Cancer Family Care Center of Ewha Womans University Blood Cancer Hospital is committed to delivering holistic care that encompasses not only the patients themselves but also their families, ultimately creating a better treatment environment.
