Introduction
The Leukemia Center is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of leukemia patients, including suffering from acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Director Lee Seok, who had been exclusively responsible for chemotherapy, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and CAR-T cell therapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, was specifically scouted for the opening of Ewha Womans University Blood Cancer Hospital in December 2024. As the professor who has performed the most treatments and transplantations for acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients in Korea, Director Lee Seok performs around 100 allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantations per year on average, thus demonstrating his extensive experience. Meanwhile, Professor Lee Kyu-hyung is a world-renowned expert in acute myeloid leukemia, haploidentical allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and NK cell therapy research at Seoul Asan Hospital. He also appeared as an authoritative doctor in this field on the 2012 EBS “Excellent Doctor” program. At the Leukemia Center, many dedicated medical staff support patients’ recovery and rehabilitation, including patient care nurses, transplant coordinators, CAR-T cell therapy coordinators, and infectious disease specialists who manage complications during treatment, diagnostic laboratory specialists, rehabilitation physicians, pharmacists, nutritionists, and social workers.
