Introduction
Treatments in joint diseases
The Department of Rheumarthritis is one of the internal medicine branches and specialized in diagnosis and treatment of arthritis, as well as systemic rheumatologic diseases which cause arthritis. We are responsible for treating systemic autoimmune diseases including arthritis of a wide range of causes, connective tissue diseases, and vasculitis.
The origin of rheumatology as a study can be found in the concept of the disease in the Ancient Greek era, during which joint diseases were believed to be caused bythe flow of a pain-causing fluid called ‘rheuma.’ Since then, this concept has developed to a modern field of study which identifies the cause of an illnessresulting in arthralgia or arthritis and studies their remedies. Our therapeuticscope includes diseases whose main symptom is arthritis, such asrheumarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, and osteoarthritis; connectivetissue diseases including systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren’s syndrome, systemic sclerosis and inflammatory muscle disease; and different types ofvasculitis including Behcet’s disease. Our hospital is seeking to offer highlypersonalized, optimal care with rapidly-developing state-of-the-art rheumaticdisease treatments.
